A Foundation is much like a tree-it starts out small but with continual nurturing, it will grow and grow. And as it grows, it provides a wealth of benefits that are immeasurable. You, too, can play a key role in helping the Wauneta Community Foundation grow. Through nurturing gifts, the Foundation can provide a wealth of benefits to the Wauneta-area community, not only today but for many years to come. The Wauneta Community Foundation was established in 1996 for the purpose of receiving, administering and disbursing funds for community betterment. The Wauneta Community Foundation is a part of the Nebraska Community Foundation. This enables the Foundation to insure that your gifts are fully tax deductible under the I.R.S. tax code. Your contributions to the Foundation can be used for specific purposes or gifted to the foundation with the disbursement of proceeds to be determined by the local foundation advisory committee. It is the responsibility of the advisory committee to insure that the proceeds from the Foundation are invested back into the community in a prudent and accountable manner. By continuing to build the assets of the Foundation and using only the interest or investment return for projects, the Foundation can continue to grow its base. As its assets grow, so does the amount of money that can be used to fund community betterment projects in the Wauneta-area community. A gift to the Wauneta Community Foundation is an investment in the future of the community we love - Wauneta! I’d like to be a part-how?There are many ways in which you can make a charitable contribution to the Wauneta Community Foundation. In all cases, because of the 501 (3)© status of the Foundation you will receive tax advantages as a result of your generosity and belief in the Wauneta-area community. Gifts of appreciated securitiesGiving appreciated stocks or bonds is a superb way to support our efforts. With certain limitations you can deduct the full, fair market value of long-term appreciated securities. Thus, you cn give away assets with capital gains and avoid the tax. Gifts of appreciated real estateAlmost any type of real property-a personal residence, farm ground, commercial buildings r undeveloped land-can constitute as a gift. Gifts of property can be given in a variety of ways. If the property is long-term, you will generally avoid any tax on the capital gain, reduce your taxable estate by the value of the gift and receive a charitable contribution for 100% of the fair market value of the property. Gifts of grain or livestockWith a gift of grain and/or livestock, you could make a significant contribution to the future of the Wauneta Community Foundation. For instance, when giving grain, the gift is put into the Foundation’s name at the time of the delivery so you pay no tax on the sale of the grain. Life insuranceYou may give a sizeable gift for the Foundation through a life insurance program especially designed to create an endowment for the long-term use by the Foundation. The Foundation becomes the owner, beneficiary and payer of the premium from the gift money given by you and designated for purchase of insurance. Gifts of depreciated farm machineryWith a gift of depreciated farm machinery, farmers can avoid paying income taxes on ordinary income from the restored appreciation, and if the machinery has a remaining cost basis, the donor can generally receive a charitable deduction for that amount. Gifts of charitable gift annuityA charitable gift annuity is a common method of providing a guaranteed fixed income for the rest of your life. It also has tax savings. The annuity is a contract between you and foundation for mutual benefit. In exchange for cash, securities, real estate or other marketable properties, the foundation signs a contractual obligation to pay a specified lifetime income to one or more persons. Payments can be deferred until a donor annuitant is in a lower income tax bracket. These are but a few of the various methods to make gifts to the Foundation and provide a tax benefit to you and your family.
