Code Red PDF Print E-mail

The Village of Wauneta in cooperation with Chase County and BW Telcom, contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc. and instituted a high-speed emergency telephone notification service known as CodeRED. This service is beneficial to the community because in the case of an emergency all targeted areas will be alerted quickly and efficiently by a pre-recorded telephone notification message.

The system is capable of dialing 60,000 individual phone numbers per hour. The CodeRED system is a geographical based notification system. If you have changed your phone number or address within the last year, do not assume your number will be called in an emergency until you have registered your new number or new address. You are able to register both home, and cellular phones.

Required registration information for CodeRED high-speed telephone emergency notification service includes: first and last name, street address (no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number. Additional phone numbers are optional.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.

Examples of times when the “CodeRED” system could be utilized:
  • Drinking water contamination
  • Utility outage
  • Evacuation notice & route
  • Missing person
  • Fires or floods
  • Severe Weather Warning
  • Bomb threats
  • Hostage situation
  • Chemical spill or gas leak

You can register your number online at Village of Wauneta or Chase County websites, www.wauneta.com  or www.co.chase.ne.us .
