WAUNETA, NEBRASKA – In response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Village of Wauneta has been monitoring various government agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Nebraska State Government, including the Governor’s office, Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department.
The CDC’s recommendation is that groups of 10 or more should not gather, especially if the participants are arriving from other communities, which would increase the chances of the virus being transmitted into our community and participants then becoming infected and transmitting it back to their own communities.
It is important during this time of uncertainty that we remain calm and be proactive in protecting our citizens. We appreciate everyone’s patience and conscientious cooperation in efforts to protect our community, family, and friends.
In the interest of public safety, effective Thursday, March 19, 2020, the Village Office will be closed to public access. Village staff will be available via telephone services and conduct business. Village facilities (such as the Community Building) will follow the CDC’s recommendation of limiting groups to 10.
The Village will continue to provide essential services such as electric, water, sewer, etc.
For general information please call the Village Office at 308-394-5390.
